Abstract (EN)

The renewable, agricultural and environmetional fuels producted from the sources which don?t consist of petrol (ethanol, methanol, canola, soybean etc.) replace the sources of energy limited, when the use of energy increases nowadays. On the other hand, the studies of increasing the efficiency of engines, reducing exhaust emissions, finding alternative fuels which have suitable specialities for engines and developing have been continued. In this study, the turpentine has added into gasoline for increasing the efficiency obtained from the fuels and making better of the emissions. The one cylinder, four cycles, spark ignition engine was used. Tests were performed on dynamometer at the full throttle valve gap and from 2000 to 4000 min-1 speeds. The pure gasoline, 10% turpentine-gasoline mixture (T10) and 20% turpentine-gasoline mixture (T20) have been used as a alternative fuel. The effects of these mixtures to engine power, engine torque, specific fuel consumption, exhaust emissions have been experimentally examined. It was observed that the turpentine which has been mixed with gasoline for T10 and T20 oils respectively made slightly increase engine power and under 4000-2500 rpm %5,91-%0,91 and %5,67-%2,76 engine torque as gasoline. %4,6 decrease for T10 and %4,55 increase for T20 were observed in specific fuel consumption of turpentine-gasoline under 2500 rpm as gasoline. Decreases of %0,3 CO and %1,22 HC we obtained for T10 and T20.
