Reading spatial elements in horror cinema through Bernard Tschumi's concept of spatial violence

Just as it is not possible to think of a cinema independent of the space, neither can a space independent of the event. When it comes to horror cinema, these relationships become more complicated. Space in horror cinema is not only a design element; takes place as a leading actor. The violence that the body and space inflict on each other through architectural uncanny forms one of the most basic elements of horror cinema. Spatial violence, which is inevitable as a result of the intermingling of two different orders, consolidates its place in cinema as in every aspect of our daily life. In this thesis; through the horror films, which are examined through the architectural uncanny we have determined in the study, it is revealed that the violence of the space to the body and the body to the space, and therefore the space, is the basic element of the horror cinema.
