Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is; The aim of this study is to examine the reading texts in fifth grade Turkish textbooks in terms of mathematical language. Document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. Data sources of the research; These are 16 reading texts included in the fifth grade Turkish textbooks of Koza Publications and Anıttepe Publishing. These texts were examined according to mathematical language expressions in the learning areas of the mathematics curriculum. Koza and Anıttepe publishing 5th grade Turkish textbooks are the data collection tools of the research. As a result of the research, it was determined that mathematical expressions related to data processing, numbers and operations, geometry and measurement learning areas were used in the examined texts. In narrative texts, natural numbers and time measurement are the most common sub-learning areas; It was determined that mathematical language expressions related to natural numbers and time measurement sub-learning areas were mostly included in informative texts. In both books, it was stated that the use of mathematical language was more prevalent in narrative texts than in informative texts. Key Words: Mathematical language, Turkish textbook, reading texts
