The effect of solution focused approach based group counseling on anxiety and healthy living behaviour in individuals with nutritional behavior disorder

Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of the study is to determine the effect of SFA based group counseling on anxiety and HLB in individuals with nutritional behavior disorder Material and Method: The study was applied as randomized controlled pretest posttest experimental design from 2018 May to 2019 July. The population of the study consisted of 619 adult who applied to the dietician in the Life and Sports Center. Individuals were randomly selected from the probabilistic sampling methods by simple random sampling method. A total of 31 individuals in the experimental group and 45 individuals in the control group completed the study. A descriptive data form including socio-demographic information, HLB and a continuous anxiety scale were used. Eight weeks, eight sessions, about 90 min of SFA counseling was given. Findings: The average of the posttest scores of the individuals in the experimental group; and 40.45 ± 9.22 of the anxiety scale, and 153.2 ± 23.17 of the HLP. The posttest mean score of the subjects in the control group; the anxiety inventory was 46.73 ± 8.83 and the HLB scale was 125.11 ± 20.21 and there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups. In post-intervention individuals; a decrease in anxiety inventory was found, while an increase in HLB and subscales were observed (p <.001). In addition, body mass index, weight of individuals decreased and weekly exercise times increased in the experimental group (p <.001). Conclusion: SFA counseling to individuals with nutritional behavior disorder decreased the anxiety of individuals and increased HLB.
