Abstract (EN)

Considering cattle breeding in Turkey, a portion of the relatively low number of cattle seems to consist of native breeds of cattle. On the other hand, it is observed that many unique breeding systems are applied by local cattle breeders, especially. This study reveals the structural characteristics of traditional cattle breeding, which is widely carried out in the districts of Aydın, whose climate and topography are suitable for agriculture, within the borders of Beşparmak Mountains. In this sense, nearly 200 breeders were contacted and personal interviews were made with 50 breeders among them. As a result of the interviews with the breeders, it was determined that the labor force in this breeding type is almost never and the input item is very low. This system, which is a great source of income for them in rural conditions, is called by the breeders as release cattle breeding. Breeders raise animals in natural environment and generally without artificial insemination. It has been observed that there is no need for constant follow-up and observation, they keep the animals completely free in a wide area and breed them under completely natural conditions. In this study, the details of this breeding system, which requires relatively less labor and expense compared to other breeding methods and therefore more profitable, are presented and predictions for the future are given.
