Effects of shear wall location on analysis results in reinforced concrete building models

Abstract (EN)

There are two important stages of reinforced concrete structures, which are widely used for various purposes in our country. The first is projecting and design and the second is the implementation phase. The importance of the project design studies carried out in the first stage is very great as it will also affect the next stage. Therefore, changes in the implementation phase should not be allowed as much as possible by working meticulously during the projecting phase. In order to be able to carry out the project work with the least error, the most ideal design should be prepared by making many models. In this direction, 11, 5-storey structures that are widely used in our country, which carrier system consists of reinforced concrete columns, beams, slab floors and shear walls were analyzed according to Turkish Seismic Code for Buildings 2018. As a result of three-span and four span modelling, the required reinforcement areas, displacements, periods etc. have been compared. While displacement and period values were found more in the frame system models, lower values were obtained in the shear wall-frame models with shear walls on the outer axis. When the required reinforcement areas are compared in the models, the ideal shear wall area percent value on the floor should not be more than 1,5 in similar 5 storey shear wall-frame systems with a floor area of approximately 500 m2.
