Abstract (EN)

During the modeling phase, different numbers of building floors, column discontinuities at different floors, and column discontinuities at different locations were created in relation to the thesis topic in hand. To achieve this, a total of 39 buildings were modeled and analyzed using ETABS software, including 3 reference buildings with no column discontinuities at 7, 10 and 13 floors, 12 buildings with column discontinuity at the first floor, 12 buildings with column discontinuity at the second floor, 12 buildings with column discontinuity at the third floor, and 12 buildings with column discontinuity at the fourth floor, all following the principles of TBDY-2018. Later, 11 more building models were created, including 3 reference buildings with 10 floors and 3 different floor plan types, and 8 buildings with column discontinuity located at different points of the reference buildings due to the close results obtained from the examined data. Thus, the number of examined models increased from 39 to 50. After completing the design and analysis phases of the buildings, the natural vibration periods, base shear forces, irregularity of the relative stiffness between neighboring floors, relative floor displacements, beam and column internal forces of all the buildings were compared and presented in tables and figures. Based on these comparisons, it was found that the overall behavior of the buildings was similar. It can be stated that the impact of column discontinuity on the general behavior of the building is minimal, but the impact on the element-based behavior is significantly different.
