Özet (EN)

Now a days, among the methods based on performance, the methods based on force is more widely used. But it must be known that after an earthquake in a building, horizontal forces result of are created, these cause the building to make horizontal displacement which causes structural and non structural damages in a structure. The potential of this damage controlling is more difficult with the force-based design than displacement-based design. In force-based design: firstly, dimensions are determined then structural period and by means of elastic acceleration spectrum the elastic spectral acceleration constant is found. Then, according to the found horizontal earthquake forces, the structure is designed. Displacements control is done at the end. As for the displacement based design, a target displacement is selected.In this thesis, also nonlinear dynamic analysis and nonlinear static analysis were compared. Nonlin programme and Idecad programme is used for this applications. Also structural analysis which belongs to this method, design of the elements, the methods for computation and obtaining of the displacement profile were investigated.
