Abstract (EN)
Genetic algorithms have attracted great attention due to their ability of providing a solution to discrete optimum design problems. In this study a genetic algorithm aproach to select bar diameters from a standard section library to design deep beams is given stated. The horizontal and vertical bars are determined to safely bear the loads acting on the beam using genetic algorithm operators as evalution, selection, copying, crossover and mutation. Deep beams are analysed according to ACI code provisions and the restrictions and difficulties of the provisions in ACI code are stated. Same problems are analysed using the computer program developed and usefulness of the program is stated.
