ABSTRACTMasters ThesisINVESTIGATE OF SIZE EFFECT IN GEOMETRIC CHANGES OF SPLITTINGTENSILE STRENGHT OF CONCRETEErkan ARSLANFirat ÜniversityGraduate School of Natural and Applied SciencesDepartment of Conctruction Education2006, Page : 36At first general information is given about Investigate of Size Effect in GeometricChanges of Spliting Tensile Strught of Concrete. It is examined how concrete is effected underpressure tensile strength of concrete as shape and size effect. Brazilian Split is known asCylinder Split Experiment is used on cylinder and cubic samples upen Tensile Splitting Strengthand the work is examined dealing with the abowe experiment and results are evaluated. Inaddition to tensile splitting strength literature is scanned over the effects on tensile pressureconcrete bending strength and elastic modul experiments.During 28 days tensile splitting strength of three different size and two different shapesof cubic and cylinder samples which are made on the rate of 0,53 water and cement concrete isexamined and splitting between shapes are researched. As a result, as the size of sample is shrinked splitting weight is decreased but inspite ofthat splitting strain is increased. Endurance of cylinder samples are more than endurance ofcubic samples. It is seen that tensile experiments are healtier than endurance insplittingconcrete. Keywords : Concrete, Tensile Splitting Strength, Tensile Brazilian Splitting,Compressive Strength, Flexural Strength, Static Modulus of Elasticity.
