Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of therapeutic agents, applicated with various application tool, on elimination of the damage in bovine teeth enamel surface textures caused by % 35 hydrogen peroxide bleaching. In this thesis study enamel samples, obtained from bovine incisor, standardized and then baseline vickers hardness values and surface roughness values were calculated. Then the samples bleached with %35 hydrogen peroxide 3 times in 5 days apart. After first bleaching session vickers hardness values and surface roughness values were calculated again. After bleaching and and calculation the samples divided into 16 groups according to the therapeutic agents(ROCS®, GC Tooth Mousse®, Teethmate®, Colgate Sensitive Prorelief®) and application tools(Bonding brush, soft tooth brush, middle tooth brush, prophy cup). Additionally two control groups were designed. One of theese groups was negative control group and this group only bleached with %35 hydrogen peroxide and left in artificial saliva for 13 days. Other control group was named positive control group and it was received application tools for 13 days with no therapotic agent Except for control group, all groups recieved treatment agents with different application tools daily throughtout between bleaching sessions. After that vickers hardness number and surface roughness were calculated at the end. For control group bleaching repeated 3 times in 5 days apart and vickers hardness number and surface roughness values were calculated after each bleaching sessions. Results of the study showed that bleaching with %35 hydrogen peroxide cause reduction of vickers hardness value and raising of surface roughness values when we compare them with baseline values. In the control group vickers hardness values decreased, surface roughness values increased after each bleaching sessions. All treatment agents for enamel rehardening was succesful. There was some differences in terms of application tools. Soft tooth brush gave best results for Colgate Sensitive Prorelief® and GC Tooth Mousse®. Middle tooth brush gave best results for GC Tooth Mousse®. There was no differences in terms of application tolls for ROCS medical mineral gel® and Teethmate®. Bonding brush and prophy cup gaved no differences for all treatment agents. All treatment agents contribute the healing of increased surface roughness. There was some differences in terms of application tools. Bonding brush gave best results for GC Toothmousse® and ROCS Medical Mineral Gel®. Soft tooth brush gave best results for ROCS Medical Mineral Gel® and GC Tooth Mousse®. Middle tooth brush gave best results for ROCS Medical Mineral Gel® and Colgate Sensitive Prorelief®. Prophy cup gaved no differences for all treatment agents. With the limitations of this study bleaching with %35 hydrogen peroxide effects enamel surface texture negatively but theese negative effects colud be eliminated with theese treatment agents. Differences between the application tools showed, which therapatic agents could be used with which application tool for best results.
