Beykoz, Yalikoy emplacement, restoration projects of the bakery of Haci Alibey and the house of Mediha Yaran

Beykoz located at the northern section of the Bosporus had become the hunting region of palace staff and the resort are and resting place of the public in the Ottoman period with its natural beauty, wide greenfield sites and rich rivers. In subsequent years; the rich river resources, the ease of sea access and the wide areas around the rivers has caused the establishment of industrial facilities in this region. Development of industry has enabled the increase of job possibilities; this situation has brought the internal migration along with itself. The coastal town that has earned its living with fishing, stockbreeding and gardening has expanded in time, its population has increased and with respect to this, the rapid and unplanned settlement has destroyed the unique texture of the region.Yalıkoy that is famous with its waterside residences is a Beykoz district that accommodates civil architectural samples that could reach to present day. Determination and documentation of the cultural assets to be protected is necessary in the environment that has been corrupted by poor quality structures. With this foresight with the inventory of Yalıkoy settlement, the investigation of two structures has been selected as the subject of the thesis, one being one brick and the other one wooden located in the region.Under the scope of thesis; the inquiry and analysis works related with the structures to be protected has been made and by scanning the visual resources; the definition of the variation that the structures has experiences has been established. Architectural plans with a scale of 1/50 of the brick and wooden structures have been prepared and it has been supported by architectural documentation work, material and damage assessment.In the restitution phase primarily the details and elements that constitute a definite data about the original architecture of the structures has been assessed and the problems has been determined. In cases of the present written and visual recourses are insufficient; by analyzing the structures with similar properties prediction has been made in the course of analogy method.While the restoration projects of the structures were being prepared; the restoration decisions has been taken in the course of the necessary proposals for the survival of the structures by acquiring new function with the interventions that are necessary for protection of the architecture.
