Selection breeding of walnuts grown in and around Bilecik Gölpazari

In this study, which was carried out to determine the promising walnut genotypes in the Gölpazarı district of Bilecik, fruit samples were taken from 88 trees. According to the selection criteria, 10 genotypes were found to be promising. The fruit weights of the Ümitvar genotypes are between 16.67 g and 11.58 g, their internal weight is between 8.39 g and 6.19 g, their internal ratio is between 59.45 and 48.65%, the shell thickness values are between 1.66 mm and 1.19 mm, the fruit length is between 47.49 and 34.69 mm, and the fruit width is 38.80. It was determined that 30.75 mm, fruit thickness varied between 35.29 and 30.93 mm. In our hopeful genotypes, the color of the bark changed from light to dark, the interior color from light to slightly dark, the inner veining varied from little to high, the whole cocking trait from half to full, the bark breaking resistance from easy to moderate, and the bark roughness from little to moderate. . With this study, it is understood that there are important walnut genotypes in and around Gölpazarı. With more detailed studies on these walnut gene sources, protection, reproduction and standard varieties of these genotypes are considered important in terms of walnut cultivation in our country.
