Abstract (EN)

Among the industrial raw materials, clay minerals find more common usage areas. Especially in terms of the existing enterprises in our country, the proximity to raw materials and production costs, clay minerals are very important. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the characteristics of the clays of Söğüt and its vicinity. When the average P wave velocity (Vp), SiO2, Al2O3 and Fe2O3 values of each quarry were taken and variance values were investigated Vp - SiO2 between r2 = - 0.7266 value, Vp - Al2O3 between r2 = - 0.2546 value, Vp - Fe2O3 value between r2 = 0.6712, Al2O3 - Fe2O3 between r2 = - 0.4632 value, SiO2 - Fe2O3 between r2 = - 0.802 value was calculated. It is known that the clay cookers in the region have been actively operated with open pit operations for long years. As a result of the wrong quarry operations in the quarries, the efficiency of the quarries is reduced. Engineering properties of Söğüt district clays of were investigated in terms of XRF, seismic velocities and soil characteristics. The obtained values and the content values of clay minerals in industrial use were compared. Data were related with various graphs, maps and regression processes. The relationships found were used to determine the usage areas of the samples taken from the quarries. It is believed that the clays in the region are suitable for use as raw material especially in ceramic and refractory industries, and after the necessary enrichment processes, it can be evaluated in other industrial areas by increasing their economic values.
