Abstract (EN)

The main points to living a healthy life are balanced nutrition and physical activity. The person who has these habits can live a healthy and longer life by increasing life quality. The aim of this study is to examine the habits and physical activities of university students staying in state dormitories in Bilecik. This cross-sectional study was conducted in five different University dormitories which works under the Bilecik Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate in February-March 2020. Each student participating in this study was informed before the study and continued with those who accepted. The students who accepted the study completed the survey face to face. The survey consists of 5 different parts. These are the issue about demographic information, eating habits, body perceptions, food consumption, eating behaviors and physical activity levels. Students 'body perception' 'Stunkard Scale' ', eating behaviors' 'Eating Attitude Test (EAT-26)' ', food consumption' 'Food Consumption Frequency Form' 'and physical activity levels' 'International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ)' 'was made using the short form. A total of 339 people, 107 (31.6%) male and 232 (68.4%) female students, participated in the study. 20.9% of the students think that they have a sufficient and balanced diet in their nutritional habits. It is stated that 79.6% of the students skipped meals for various reasons and the most skipped meal was lunch with 51.9%. It is concluded that 23.3% of the students eat quickly, 8% consumed fastfood every day, and 26.3% pay attention to the choice of food in a clean environment. Eating Attitudes Test was 11.28 ± 8.09 for male students and 14.57 ± 9.48 for female students. According to the Eating Attitude Test results, 21.8% of the students are found to have malnutrition. According to the results of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire, 24.2% of the students had low level physical activity, 58.1% had moderate physical activity and 14.7% had high level physical activity. University students are an age group that can improve their nutritional habits and physical activity levels, considering their age and education levels. Therefore, trainings, posters and programs should be created on healthy nutrition and physical activities. Physical facilities of the departments in the dormitory where students will do physical activity should be increased and students should be directed to these areas.
