Similar future occupational anxiety of information and document management department students and medical documentation and secretarial programme students

Anxiety, which is frequently encountered in daily life and developed for unknown circumstances, especially for the future varying in its instant or long-term aspect, is expressed as apprehension, worry and situational curiosity. On the other hand, occupational anxiety is the feeling of apprehension that occurs in individuals for the unknown future related to the occupation which is being trained for. Occupational anxiety regarding the future has a significant and crucial impact especially on today's youth. Anxiety and fear, which arise as a result of post-graduate unemployment, inability to find a suitable job, dismissal, salary, social rights and opportunities, lead to occupational anxiety for young individuals who study at the undergraduate or associate degree level in order to meet the requirements of finding a job, earning money in accordance with the conditions of our age, and to take up a profession. While individuals who can manage anxiety can turn anxiety into a tool for success, it will give rise to incapability to cope with for individuals who are lost in their anxiety. In this study, the elements of future occupational anxiety of the students who are studying and the anxiety levels concerning these elements are examined by presenting the professional status and conditions of the Department of Information and Document Management and Medical Documentation and Secretarial Programme, which have a common history and similar professional characteristics. Within the scope of the study, using the Occupational Anxiety Scale and the Intention of Occupational Commitment Scale, the common occupational anxiety table of the two departments is identified and analysed. In line with the data obtained, recommendations related to the improvement of occupational rights, students and universities are presented by evaluation and commentary.
