Abstract (EN)

This dissertation attempts to resolve the problem of knowledge sharing in knowledge-worker teams whose members have specialized knowledge. Thus, the influence of transactive memory system and knowledge integration capability constructs on team effectiveness is explored in this study. The model of the study tests the moderation impact of knowledge integration capability to the relationship between transactive memory system and team effectiveness. Since this model is not supported, the mediation impact of knowledge integration capability to the same relationship is also tested. Data was collected from a sample of 260 team members from 50 knowledge-worker teams at companies in Turkey and the statistical analysis was conducted using simple linear regression. Additionally, moderation and mediation analyses based on regression were conducted by using Hayes Process v3.3. The study results indicate that transactive memory system has a positive high effect on team effectiveness. Similarly, knowledge integration capability has a positive medium effect on team effectiveness. Besides, knowledge integration capability mediates the relationship between the transactive memory system and team effectiveness. Existing studies in the literature are inadequate to explore the contextual variables that moderate as well as the constructs that mediate the relationship between the transactive memory system and team effectiveness. This study fills that gap by developing two models that include these types of relationships and suggests that knowledge integration capability has a mediator effect in the relationship between the transactive memory system and team effectiveness.
