Abstract (EN)

Thanks to his knowledge, man has gained the ability to change and transform nature for his own purposes. Having made great breakthroughs such as the agricultural revolution, industrial revolution and technology revolution through knowledge, people have become able to apply the knowledge they have acquired in all areas of their lives. Social development, which has undergone information-based changes and transformations in many areas from economy to health, from sports to politics, has also gained direction thanks to the knowledge gained by people. In today's societies where technology has spread to all areas of life, it is possible to see scientific knowledge as both the cause and the result of this prevalence. As a matter of fact, technology that emerged thanks to scientific knowledge has also become a means of producing scientific knowledge. Scientific knowledge, which can be produced in every field of science, continues to mark our age with the help of technology, ie technique. Such that; Every day, new scientific developments can be seen in many fields. The fact that our age has witnessed rapid scientific developments through knowledge and technique brings to mind the information society theories. The thinkers who put forward these theories express the thoughts that give knowledge a determining role and give it priority in the development of society. At the same time, they argue that the development and proliferation of knowledge and technical possibilities has and will have a very positive effect on society. In contrast to these views, there are those who hold the view that knowledge and technology do not have any effect on eliminating these negative conditions, showing the ongoing negative conditions today. Different views on how the combination of knowledge, scientific knowledge and technique gives societies a direction reveals the necessity of an up-to-date research on the subject. Because rapidly increasing new technologies can create changes in the position of information, access to information and use of information. These changes are of course considered in the context of new communication technologies from the perspective of communication sciences. Moreover, new communication technologies can affect all scientific knowledge, not only in the field of communication, such as the production, distribution and use of information. The media, which is called new media and whose scope is all new communication technologies, has features that facilitate access to all kinds of information, can change the way of using and evaluating information, and most importantly, affect the production of information. The most communicative of new media environments that include all kinds of smart technological devices come to life through the social use of the internet. Among these, it is possible to count websites and social media. Internet sites and social media make all kinds of communication possible, except physical contact, thanks to the technical facilities they have. It is obvious that all kinds of information can be spread, produced and used within this communication. Therefore, it is possible to see websites and social media as tools of information. Scientific knowledge, like all types of information, can be disseminated, used and produced via the internet and social media. So much so that it can be said that it performs above traditional media tools in this regard. Scientific knowledge can be spread through social media. What makes this possible, in addition to technical facilities, is social media formations. These entities, which can be volunteers or professionals, can create content and publish on the basis of any type of information. Scientific information formations in social media, which can reach a remarkable number of readers and viewers, also shed light on the position of information in new media environments. New media environments in which information flows fluidly, temporarily and rapidly, besides adding to information, can also put obstacles in front of information. When these obstacles are viewed in terms of scientific knowledge, factors such as the fact that most scientific information content is international, requires a foreign language, access to information is paid or requires technical skills. These problems, which are mostly encountered in accessing scientific information in a professional sense, are tried to be overcome by popular science publishing. In this direction, it can be said that the role of popular science formations in social media in reducing the barriers to access to scientific information is important.
