Determination effect of a course prepared to students' course achievements and attitudes and reflection of the views of students with computer assisted project based traning method: Mathematics course sample

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of a course prepared with computer assisted, project-based training method to students? course achievements and attitude and to investigate reflections to student views.In the study, teaching Mathematics course which students found difficult and usually approached by fearing in the process of the school was chosen. As it was being teached Mathematics with project-based and computer-assisted approach, it was chosen the appropriate unit. And then, it was made presentation to be used in the lesson for this unit and it also was carried out the project study.Qualitative and quantitative research methods have been used in the study. For quantitative research, ?Pretest-Posttest Control Group Experimental Design? has been employed. 31 question achievement test and 22 question attitude scale which was developed by utilizing the literature by the author has been used.For qualitative research, student views on the course performed with computer assisted project based training method have been received.The sampling of the study was composed of 60 who was seventh class students enrolled Ayten TEKIŞIK who took Mathematics course at the first semester of the academic year 2011-2012 in Çankaya, Ankara.Experimental and control groups have been randomly chosen. During the 5 weeks period, computer assisted programmed instruction method in Instructional Technologies and Material Development course has been implemented in 30 student experimental group and traditional instruction method has been used in 30 student control group.SPSS 17.0 statistical package program was used to analyze the data. In research sub-problems dependent and independent t-test techniques were used. At the result of the study based on the findings showed that computer assisted project based training method increases students? course achievements but the attitudes of the students to the course were determined no significant changes.Key Words: Computer Assisted Instruction, Project Based Training, Traditional Instruction
