Opinions of the science teachers on the contribution of science fiction to the learning targets of science classes

Özet (EN)

This research aims to discover how science teachers' gender, employment time, field of study, school's dwelling unit and whether they have adequate knowledge on science fiction affects their opinion on science fictions contribution to sciences. Participants are 36 science teachers located on various villages and center of Cizre district in Şırnak at second term of 2014-2015 education period. Among the qualitative research methods, screening model is used in this research. Data collection is done by Likert scale questionnaire which is constructed by the researcher including 15 questions with 0.8 reliability. Research data is evaluated with SPSS 15.0 program and analyzed by percentage, frequency, average, standard deviation, Kruskal Wallis and Correlation and T-Test. In conclusion, according to independent samples T-Test no significant difference is found between participants' i) opinion and gender ii) opinion and dwelling unit iii) opinion and whether they have adequate knowledge on science fiction and iv) opinion and the duration of work experience. By employing Kruskal Wallis test, no significant difference is found among the average of the opinions of the teachers on the science fiction based on their branches. According to Correlation test, there is a high and medium level-correlation between the items and the level adequate knowledge on science fiction of the science teachers. According to item analysis, the majority of the participants found to favour the idea that science fictions contributes to learning targets of the science classes.
