A bibliometric analysis on teaching of nature of science

In this thesis study, the keyword "nature of science" was searched in the Web of Science database, and 1199 articles about the nature of science were found in the period between the years 1980-2021, and the obtained data were analyzed by bibliometric analysis method. The data obtained as a result of the search were analyzed under the headings of main information, distribution by years, average citations per year, tree fields plot, the most published authors and universities, the h index of the authors, the cumulative journal growth, the countries of the responsible authors and the number of articles by country, the scientific productivity of the countries, most frequent words, word cloud, treemap, word dynamics, trend topics, word network map, thematic map for words, thematic evolution, conceptual structure map, co-citation network, cooperation network of authors, universities, countries, publication growth of countries and universities and histography through the "biblioshiny", a web interface of the bibliometrix package of the R-Studio program. As a result of the research, N.G. Lederman is the most contributing author, the author with the highest h index effect, the most collaborating author; International Journal of Science and Mathematics Education is the first journal to contribute to the field of research; The University of Virginia was the first contributing university to receive; the university that cooperates the most among universities is Indiana University; the USA is the country that produces the most articles and cooperates the most; it was seen that the most frequently used words in the articles were "views", "students", "science" and "knowledge". It has been emphasized that the theoretical contribution to the field is important, considering that it will be a reference for researchers who are interested in the field and intend to conduct research in the following processes.
