Abstract (EN)

In the research, the level of the attitudes of gifted and talented students studying in Science and Art Centers (BİLSEMs) towards mathematics and the attitudes in question; It is aimed to examine the students in terms of variables such as the type of school they study, class level, gender status, the person who is effective in liking mathematics, the education level of their parents, whether they have received external support education, and the continuing education program in BİLSEM. The research was carried out with the participation of 110 students studying in the Science and Art Centers in Kocaeli province Izmit, Gebze and Gölcük districts in the 2020-2021 academic year, and the model of the research is the survey model, one of the quantitative research methods. In the research, "Personal Information Form" was used to determine students' personal information, and "Math Attitude Scale" developed by Duatepe and Çilesiz (1999) was used to determine students' attitudes towards mathematics. The data obtained as a result of the research were analyzed by using non-parametric tests such as "Mann-Whitney U test" and "Kruskal Wallis test". As a result of the research, the attitudes of gifted and talented students towards mathematics were generally positive, and the said attitudes did not change according to the type of school, class level, the person who is effective in liking mathematics, the education level of the parents, whether they received support education, but the education seen in BİLSEM. It was determined that the program and gender status differed statistically in the fear-trust sub-dimension. The research is important in terms of the contribution that gifted students will make to mathematics education and literature. Keywords: BİLSEM, Mathematics, Attitude, Gifted, Special talented
