Experimental investigation of the most appropriate insulation material in building insulation

Abstract (EN)
As in the world, energy consumption is constantly increasing in our country, depending on the developments in many areas such as industrialization, urbanization, increasing population and transportation. Domestic resources are not yet at a sufficient level to meet this energy need. For this reason, petroleum, natural gas and hard coal are among the most consumed energy resources in Turkey and since the amounts paid in imports are quite high, studies on utilizing natural resources continue. Inefficient use of energy causes waste of energy, but also has effects such as environmental pollution. Considering that the effect of the buildings, which are shown as the largest shareholder in Energy Consumption, on the total carbon emission is around 30%, it is important to carry out studies to increase energy savings in buildings. For this purpose, in this study; The heat, sound and single point burning conditions of XPS, EPS white, EPS carbon, rock wool glass wool and natural thermal insulation plaster and sheep wool, which are the most widely used insulation materials in the market, were investigated. An experimental setup measuring 108.5x114x117 cm was created from raw MDF material in Konya Technical University Vocational School of Technical Sciences Construction laboratory. In the experimental setup created, EPS white 5 cm, 8 cm and 10 cm thick, EPS carbon 5 cm, 8 cm and 10 cm thick, XPS 5 cm, 8 cm and 10 cm thick, rock wool 5 cm, 8 cm and 10 cm thick, Glass wool 10 cm thick, natural thermal insulation plaster 2 cm, 3 cm and 4 cm thick, sheep wool 1.5 cm, 2.5 cm and 4 cm, covered from the inside and 19 pieces, the initial ambient temperature for each material is 570 tests were carried out at 25 °C, 30 °C, 30 °C, 35 °C and 40 °C temperature and for each temperature at 100 Hz, 125 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1000 Hz and 2000. The results of the experiment are 1.5 cm, 2 cm and 5 cm thick insulation materials, 1st Group, 2.5 cm, 3 cm and 8 cm thick insulation materials, 2nd Group, 4 cm and 10 cm thick insulation materials, 3rd Group. The heat and sound test results, as well as the single point combustion test results for 7 different materials, were compared. As a result of the experiments, the lowest sound permeability was found in stone wool at all temperatures in the 1st Group, 2nd Group and 3rd Group, while the highest sound permeability was in the natural thermal insulation plaster. In the 1st and 2nd groups, rock wool had the lowest thermal conductivity at all temperatures, and in the 3rd group, sheep wool had the lowest thermal conductivity at all temperatures. In the single point burning test, it was concluded that it is the natural thermal insulation plaster with the highest combustion resistance.
