Examination of heat insulation coverings according to energy conservation in buildings exterior walls

In this study, heat insulation coverings used in exterior walls has been examined and evaluated in terms of energy conservation performances.In the first chapter, heat insulation and energy conservation concepts and histories are mentioned then; the purpose, the scope and the method of the research are described.In the second chapter, general features and classification of heat insulation materials are explained then, heat insulation coverings in the external walls that were introduced in the context of the thesis has been examined.In the third chapter, information about the applications of heat insulation in exterior walls are given. In the fourth chapter, a general comparison between heat insulation materials is done with the material properties table that is created by the light of the second chapter?s data.In the last (fifth) chapter, by using the TS 825 Account Program, required heat insulation thickness of exterior walls were found by calculations on a sample building in each degree day region and the application method. In this way, it is possible to make comparisons between the necessary heat insulation materials? thicknesses that provide the equal energy performance. Cost comparison was done by benefitting from the data obtained. Contemporary cost comparison has been prepared in order to make comparisons on "cheapness performance" of heat insulation materials that are using widespread in our country and took place in the Unit Price ListAs a result, in this thesis, introducing the ?heat insulation? concept that is increasing importance gradually nowadays and its necessity for the terms of ?energy conservation? is tried to explain.Keywords: heat insulation, energy conservation, TS 825 Account Program, properties of heat insulation materials, the classification of heat insulation materials, heat insulation applications in exterior walls.
