Özet (EN)

The reduction of heating cost of buildings and environmental pollution is possible by insulation. In this study, for a typical school building, the heat loss fuel consumption and CO2 emission were calculated for four different insulation regions in Turkey. The calculations were carried out based on the heating energy requirement of TS 825 directive. The calculations were repeated for three different fuels: natural gas, fuel oil and lignite. Two different operating cases, the continuous and discontinuous, operations were considered in the calculations of the fuel consumptions. Economic analysis were also performed with the different insulation and operation cases. For four different insulation regions, the optimum insulation thicknes were calculated considering different insulation materials. The calculated optimum insulation thicknesses were calculated with the insulation thickness value calculated besed on TS 825 directive.It was observed that depending on the operation rejime of the heating system, the fuel consumption and CO2 emission varies considerable. The fuel consumption differs considerable with the insulation. This difference increases in cold climate regions. It was observed that in all insulation regions, insulated buildings are more economic.The analysis was also performed for three different insulation materials: mineral wool (glass wool), expanded polistre and extrude polistre. It was observed that the most economical insulation material is expanded polistren. For all insulation (climate) regions, the cheapest fuel is lignite, then the natural gas. CO2 emission is lowest when natural gas is used. The lignite causes more environmental pollution than the other fuels.
