Özet (EN)

This research has been done to examine the mother-child relations in extended and immediate families in Bingöl city sample. The samples of this research contain eighth grade students at Public Primary Schools and their mothers who are members of 120 immediate and 139 extended families.General information form where family structures have been stated, Personal information form where demographic situation of mothers and children stated, PARQ Mother form in order to examine mother-child relations and PARQ Child form in order to examine child-mother relations, had been used to collect data for this study. The analyzing of the data was done with S.P.S.S statistics program. The demographic information of mothers and children was given in percentage and frequency distribution; Mann-Whitney U test was used in comparison of two groups to define differences among independent variables of family structures and mother-child relations and Kruskall-Wallis H test was used for comparison of 3 or more groups. The relation between point of view of mothers to their children and children to their mothers was tested with correlation technique. When significant differences were realized among groups, the group that caused difference was defined with Scheffe Test.Statistically significant differences were not found according to family structures, amount of income, number of children and their gender in mother-child relations at the end of research (p > 0.05). But statistically significant differences were found according to age of mother, birth sequence in immediate families, education of mother in extended families and birth sequence in extended and immediate families (p < 0.05).Mothers aged 21-30 in immediate families at sub dimension of PARQ ?Warmth and Love?; high school graduated mothers in extended families at sub dimensions of PARQ ?Warmth and Love? and ?Neglect and Indifference? had better relations with their children. The relations of mothers with their children of 5th and over birth in immediate families at PARQ total and sub dimensions were found unhealthy. The relation of mothers in extended families with their children of 3rd birth sequence according to ?Aggression and Hostility? and ?Undifferentiated Rejection? sub dimensions of PARQ between immediate and extended families is found unhealthier than mothers in immediate families.Although there were no significant differences in child-mother relations considering family structures, amount of income, age of mother and her education, number of children and their gender (p>0.05 ), significant differences were found considering birth sequence in extended families and birth sequence in immediate-extended families ( p < 0.05 ).Children of 5th and over birth sequence in extended families have healthier relations with their mothers at PARQ total and all sub dimensions. In immediate and extended families, children of 5th and over birth sequence at PARQ total and ?Aggression and Hostility? sub dimension, and also children of 3rd birth sequence at ?Aggression and Hostility?sub dimensions had unhealthier relations with their mothers than children of extended families. It was found that there is an adverse relation between mothers? point of view to relations with their children and children?s point of view to relations with their mothers.
