Ecocritic at Yaşar Kemal as a narrative master

Population growth and human development have also caused many problems today. The first of these is the destruction of nature. Ecological problems pose a threat to the continuation of human and other beings' lives. Humans have built their civilization on superiority over other beings, ignoring that they are a part of the ecosystem they are in. This perspective shows that the issue has cultural dimensions. The reason for the destruction of nature is the opposition between man and nature. The source of the problem is the perception that man can use nature irresponsibly. For this reason, ecological problems are not only in the field of science and natural sciences but also in the field of social sciences. Ecocriticism examines how nature, human relations, and human- nature interactions are represented in literary texts with an ecocentric understanding. The principles that ecocriticism focuses on in literature are; how the human-nature relationship is reflected in the work, how it will lead to positive changes in the reader's perception of nature based on the literary text, and how nature awareness will be gained in the person. The works of Yaşar Kemal, the powerful pen of our literature, have been examined under the headings of the fields of ecocriticism. The study touches upon the process of ecological balance deterioration, and focuses on the change of traditional understandings of nature, the fact that human beings are a part of nature, gaining ecological consciousness and the evolution of these into social sciences and literature. Starting from this point, the works of Yaşar Kemal, the master pen of our literature, have been evaluated within the framework of the theory of ecocriticism. It is hoped that our study will contribute to the adoption and dissemination of ecocriticism within the academy and thus to the ecocritical evaluation of the works of artists in Turkey.
