Abstract (EN)

This study investigates the use of plant-based oils, specifically laurel seed oil and baobab oil, converted into biodiesel via transesterification, as alternative fuels in diesel engines. The potential for direct use of these oils in their raw form was also examined. The raw oils were mixed with 100% diesel in proportions of 10%, 20%, and 40%, while the biodiesels were blended with diesel at 20% and 50% concentrations. Additionally, pure (100%) biodiesel was tested. Each fuel mixture was analyzed for its effects on engine performance and exhaust emissions, with comparative assessments conducted. A key aspect of this study was the use of different types of nanoparticles, added at a concentration of 50 ppm, for each oil and biodiesel. The impact of these nanoparticles on combustion quality, engine performance, and emissions was also thoroughly investigated. Furthermore, preheating processes were applied to observe the changes in fuel properties. The results demonstrate that biodiesel derived from plant-based oils, with the appropriate additives and processing conditions, can serve as an environmentally friendly and efficient alternative fuel for diesel engines.
