Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this cross-sectional and descriptive study was to determine nurses? and doctors? knowledge about patient safety and opinion about error reporting in an education and research hospital.This study was conducted in these clinics of GATA education and research hospital; anaesthesiolojy and reanimation, brain and neurosurgery, gynecology and obstetrics, orthopaedics and traumatology. The sample was consisted of 78 nurses and 64 doctors.Data gathered by using a questionnaire form prepared by the researcher and develeoped by the opinions of specialist. The questionnaire consisted of three parts; demographic information form, patient safety with cases and error reporting. In patient safety with cases part, four cases introduced to participants and asked about them. In error reporting part, 16 sentences introduced to participants. They were wanted to degree them from agree to don?t agree.The analysis of the data were done by using SPSS 15.0 software. For evaluation, frequence, percentage were used, chi-square and general-linear-model-univariate tests were done.In this research, nurses and doctors were aware of patient safety, and knew what are the patient and team factors. Also they knew what to do to prevent errors. They say that; they would report errors to prevent them to occur again.Recommandations were made according to the results of the study.Key Words: Patient safety, Error reporting, Quality care, Nurse, Doctor.
