Space as a graphic design element

The existence and sustainability of life is possible by the balance of contrasts between day and night, cold and hot, feminine and masculine. One of these concepts is space and fullness. In this research, in addition to the use of space concept which corresponds to definitions such as negative space and white space, in addition to the usage methods in the field of graphic design, the other visual art and design disciplines are also discussed. Designing a graphic design product, the necessity of the white space is emphasized and the samples that are used as an active element are examined. The aim of this research is to evaluate the importance of space in terms of concept and meaning production in design elements and to create a road map for designers, students and instructors. In the first chapter the importance of the concept of space in philosophy, painting, sculpture, architecture, photography and cinema briefly mentioned. While the basic graphic design elements refer to the use of the space and how to turn into an active design element in second chapter, in the third part, the poster design project which is designed in accordance with the information obtained after the research is included.
