The life-work of Erturan Elmas in Turkish literature

A story is type of short narrative and is the telling of events which is lived or could live.The story, which entered Turkish literature with the Tanzimat Period, has shown great developments today. The story takes on a different narrative in each author.In the story, subjects such as slavery and westernization were discussed in the Tanzimat Period, and social issues were emphasized with the Republican period. Then, with the effect of the world wars, progress has been made on issues such as the loneliness of the individual, his depression, questioning his existence.Erturan EImas is one of the modern writers who blends individual and social issues in Turkish storytelling. Erturan Elmas, who started to write stories at a young age, has made important contributions to Turkish storytelling, especially with his full knowledge of Turkish and his fluent style. Being a literature teacher also brought new excitement to his literary life. In 1975, when Elmas was still a first-year student, the story "Nightwork " made her the first in the "Gerçek" magazine's story contest.With the publication of the story in this magazine, he stepped into the world of press and broadcasting. His stories have been published in various magazines (Hisar, Dergah, Gerçek) since 1975. His works were published as a book after 2010. Erturan Elmas's writings also reflect his life. He has either experienced or witnessed most of the events he describes.Especially Bursa-Orhangazi-Keramet village, where he spent his childhood, takes place in the stories as a place. Besides, the heroes of the story of Erturan Elmas are people from real life.His stories include villagers, children, the elderly, women, teachers and students, young people who go to the city for education, retirees, contractors, bank clerks, market sellers, brokers who turn the market upside down.In the study, the life, literary personality and works of Erturan Elmas, who added innovations to the Turkish story world, will be examined. Thus, the place and value of the author in Turkish literature will be tried to be determined.
