A femnist approach to women who run with the wolves by Clarissa Pincola Estes as an invitation for women to find their inner voice

The purpose of this study is to examine the propositions put forth in Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés with the intention that women should listen to their inner voice and to realize the meaning of their intuitions from a feminist perspective. Throughout history, creativity of women who have been oppressed by various systems and whose individual existence has been suppressed has been destroyed and ignored. Blending her clinical studies as a psychiatrist and her researches and observations as a biologist with fairy tales, myths and stories from all over the world, Estes makes analyses into the inner depths of women. In the expressions acquired from extensive cultural studies from Africa to the Balkans, from the Middle East to America, the heroes / heroines form similar archetypal structures. Estes originally depicts the Wild Woman archetype. Accompanying women throughout all their ages, this archetype gives warnings to them as an inner voice and makes traps and dangers apparent. Moreover, Estes reveals in detail the similarities between women and wolves. She exemplifies the figurativeness of psychoanalysis and mythology, subconscious and collective unconscious in the fairy tales, myths and stories in which women are neither princesses nor queens and go through though pubescence periods. The work having hints related to the transition from matriarchy to patriarchy contains archaic information that women can hand down to the next generations. Making a valuable cultural contribution to feminism with the call and methods for women to be the creators of their own lives, this work puts mythology as a precious reference guide to understand contemporary issues.
