Abstract (EN)

This study is a descriptive cross-sectional study, aiming to evaluate treatment (prescription) costs, co-morbidities (Diabetes, Chronic Ischemic Heart Disease, Lipidemia, CVD), the status of social security, the identifiability of the prevalence and incidence of EHT with annual average attendance rates and current data by analyzing electronic prescription records of patients diagnosed with EHT in the population aged 18 and over, attended to Family Medicine polyclinic between the dates of 01.July.2008-30.June.2009 according to Family Medicine Information System in Çiğli in the province of Izmir.Among the total of 104.546 people analyzed, it has been determined that 22.491 (21.5%) of them have been diagnosed with EHT, of these patients, 20.4% are male and 22.2% are female; 13.7% of these patients have already been diagnosed with EHT when the study is initiated; 92.3% of those patients diagnosed with EHT, have social security; people, who have been diagnosed, have attended family physicians 6.12 ± 5.75 times on average annually, of 7.786 males, 42.9% and of 14.705 females, 39.4% have been diagnosed with co-morbidity, DM (TYPE-2) is the most common co-morbidity in both genders; patients with EHT have been prescribed drugs costing a total of 1.523.071 TL in one year, drug box expenditure per capita is 72,6 TL and ARB/diuretics is the most common drug group, prescribed, with 32.4% (493.481 TL).It has been determined that in order to detect risk factors in etiology of EHT, which constitutes a significant part of Family Physicians? practice, in addition to patient?s personal data, incorporating information like patient?s waist circumference and BMI, information on whether any comorbidity is detected or not when patient is diagnosed with EHT, blood pressure values to follow up treatment with medication or without 171medication, new patient/control patient data to carry out prevalence/incidence studies efficiently into the Family Medicine Information System, which has an important role in process management, and also in order to carry out cost studies, strengthening infrastructure of this system in detail are important.
