Abstract (EN)
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE: Misogyny, which means women's hostility, can occur in the form of humiliating the individual for being a woman, being accepted as a sexual object in the society, and normalizing all kinds of violence against women. In this study, it was aimed to determine the relationship between the personality traits of women working in a public institution and internalized misogyny. MATERIAL AND METHOD: In the research, a questionnaire consisting of Sociodemographic Information Form, Cervantes Personality Scale and Internalized Misogyny Scale was applied to 255 women working in Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality. SPSS 24.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) program was used for statistical analysis. While evaluating the data, in addition to descriptive statistical methods, the conformity of the quantitative data to the normal distribution was tested with the cut-off points (boundaries) of the kurtosis and Skewness values. The Independent Sample T Test was used for the comparison of normally distributed parameters in two groups, and the One-Way Anova test was used for comparisons of three or more groups. Pearson Correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between the scales. RESULTS: A positive significant relationship was found between being extraverted/introverted from personality traits and valuing men more than women from internalized misogyny dimensions. A positive significant relationship was found between neuroticism from personality traits and the three sub-dimensions of internalized misogyny. A negative significant relationship was found between being consistent/inconsistent from personality traits and the three sub-dimensions of internalized misogyny. CONCLUSION: It was determined that there is a relationship between the personality traits of women and the sub-dimensions of internalized misogyny.
