Abstract (EN)
On concrete buildings it is a very common application to fix a part of thebuilding on cantilever beams in order to enlarge floor area over the groundfloor, particularly in Middle East countries. For most of such designs differentsizes of cracks arise on curtain walls over cantilever tendons, in time. Althoughusually it is considered that the cracks arise on curtain walls over cantilevertendons are due to errors of project and/ or application, it is understood fromperformed examinations that this is not the sole reason. This paper empiricallybrings up the matter that one of the reasons of cracks arise on cantilevers isextra weight which is transmitted to bottom cantilevers from top cantileversthrough curtain walls. At the end of the paper it is put forth for considerationthat %25 of the weight on top floor cantilever tendon is transmitted to bottomcantilever tendon by curtain wall and there are some useful suggestions.Science Code : 911Key Words : Cantilevers, curtain wall, weight transmissionPage Sum : 193Adviser : Dr. Sabahattin AYKAÇ
