Abstract (EN)
Issues such as sustainability, reduction of environmental impacts, green production and supply chain, protection of ecological elements are becoming mandatory for companies to survive day by day. In this context, logistics activities, one of the most important pillars of the supply chain, are expected to take a position in this direction. Sustainability reporting, as a declaration of sustainability activities, is one of the most effective methods of sharing and understanding these activities with stakeholders. The purpose of this study is to examine the historical development of sustainability reporting and, in this context, to examine the details of sustainability reporting and sustainability practices in a company in the logistics sector. For this reason, the sustainability reporting data of the logistics company selected as an example and sustainability practices affecting the environmental dimension of sustainability are analysed. The biggest environmental impact of logistics activities is the formation of carbon emissions due to the fuel used in transport. In this context, the changes in carbon emissions are examined in various ways such as per vehicle, per kilometre and over a three-year period and suggestions for emission reduction are discussed. When the changes in tons of CO2e per vehicle are examined over three years of data, it has been emerged the values of 4.97 tons of CO2e/vehicle in 2020, 5.54 CO2e/vehicle in 2021 and 5.35 CO2e/vehicle in 2022... The tonnes of CO2e per kilometre was 0.00082 CO2e/km in 2020, 0.00081 CO2e/km in 2021 and 0.00084 CO2e/km in 2022. The changes in tonnes of CO2e per vehicle are 11.5% increase and 3.43% decrease, respectively. Changes in tonnes of CO2e per kilometre are calculated as 0.49% decrease and 3.51% increase, respectively. Apart from transport, other environmental impacts were assessed by analysing energy consumption from storage and office activities, resource use such as water and natural gas, and waste generation. Within the scope of examining sustainability reporting, issues such as the contents of three reports published by the logistics company, the change of environmental issues in the reporting, and the matching of the report with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) index were examined. As a result, inferences have been obtained regarding the sustainability activities that a logistics company has implemented and can implement in response to its environmental impacts.
