Abstract (EN)

The People's Mujahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) was founded in September 1965 as a secular, Marxist, Islamic and pro-democratic organization. The roots of the organization, called the Mujahedin, go back to the Iranian Freedom Movement (Nehżat-i Âzâdî İrân نهضت آزادی ایران-) , which was founded in May 1961. The Iranian Freedom Movement, which advocated political freedom and separation of powers, was shut down after the massive protest against Mohammad Reza Shah on June 5, 1963, attended by the 1979 Iranian Revolutionary Leader Ayatollah Khomeini. In 1965, the People's Mujahedin Organization was founded by university students Muhammed Hanifnezhat, Sait Musin and Ali Asker Badizedagan, and a phase of an armed struggle began among Iranian dissidents against Muhammet Reza Shah Pahlavi. As a matter of fact, PMOI thought that the Freedom Movement passive and ineffective against the king. PMOI which had a phase of an armed struggle from 1965 to 2003 and was the first Iranian organization to systematically develop the modern revolutionary role of Islam. The People's Mujahedin Organization of Iran, which contains all the ideological balances, rejects the interpretation of Islam by the clergy in Iran and the "Velayet-e Faqih". The PMOI, which opposed feudalism and capitalism, combined Islam and Marxism to create its own religious interpretation. The Mujahedin saw every Muslim not only as a Muslim but also as a revolutionary person. The PMOI, which has the most controversial position among the factions, groups and organizations, that emerged in the modern history of Iran, still carries out its roadmap through a revolutionary plan that they want to realize in Iran. The organization still continues its lobbying activities, and tries to take advantage of every opportunity at home to mobilize the masses against the leadership in Iran.
