The examination of children's emotional, social, intellectual and phisical rights in a preschool setting

Despite all their rights, children have acquired a second-class place in the community for years and they have been seen as adult-dependent people. Because of that poor perspective, children have been ignored and stereotyped by adults for many years. As a result of this, they wrongly become invisible humans in our society. In today's world, pre-school children are exposed to many violations about their basic rights such as; survival, development, education and protection. The purpose of this research is to examine the practices in a preschool setting in terms of children's emotional, social, intellectual and physical rights. The study group of this study, which is a case study, consists of kindergarten staff and children. Documentation, observations and interviews were used as data collection tools in this research.The data collection process took approximately one and a half months. During this period, the researcher made observations about the physical structure of the school and its classroom practices. The researcher had conducted semi-structured interviews with preschool administrator, nine preschool teachers, guidance teachers, school nurses, eighteen children as one girl and one boy from each class, two kitchens and three cleaning staff. The obtained data were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. The researcher has previously established a framework for data analysis. According to this framework, under which themes the data will be evaluated and presented, the researcher has read and edited the data obtained according to the previously established frameworks. This study consists of four basic frameworks. These; Emotional Rights, Social Rights, Intellectual Rights and Physical Rights. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the physical and intellectual rights of the children in the kindergarten were taken into consideration and the social and emotional rights were kept in the foreground.
