Sufism Understanding of an Ottoman Scholar, Sinan Pasha

The subject of this thesis is the sufism understanding of Sinan Pasha, who is one of the scholars of Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror's time. In determining the sufism understanding of this author, his sufistic works that he wrote in the last years of his life, Tazarrunameh, Maarifnameh and Tezkirah al-Awliya are based on. In the introduction chapter of thesis, Sinan Pasha is tried to be told in terms of his family, his life, his knowledge, his literary and sufistic aspects; and information is given about his works. By allocating the introduction part to Sinan Pasha's individual life, it is aimed for the reader to have information about the academic and political position of the person, whose Sufism understanding he considers, and of his family. In the first chapter of the thesis, the presence of Hakk (Allah), His uluhiyyah and rububiyyah are examined. In the second chapter, the author's opinions about the universe's indication to Hakk, stages, possibility and being created are given place. The subject of the last chapter is human's being the total of the universe, graces (lataif) and sufistic path following within the scope of the author's opinions. Like many Ottoman scholars, Sinan Pasha is also seen to have unity of existence understanding. This case influenced the method of this study and the sufistic opinions stated by the author are examined with the previous ones. To illustrate, so as to be able to explain opinions in a better way, sufistic ideas expressed in the works of Sufi writers, like Ibn al-Arabi being in the first place in this understanding, Sadreddin Konevi, Abd al-Razzaq Kashani, Davud al-Kaysari etc. In this respect, in the event that Sinan Pasha's sufism understanding is read within the unity of existence tradition, it is seen that he is a ring of this chain and that he reflected the accumulation before him in his works. It is possible to observe the unity attributed to Hakk, universe and human in the unity of existence understanding in Sinan Pasha's Sufism understanding, either.
