Abstract (EN)

Total inventory cost minimization problem of a spare part company in the automotive sector is discussed in this study. When the firm's data is analyzed, this problem includes multiple products, multiple suppliers and multiple planning periods. Demand is deterministic. A product can be supplied from more than one supplier but ordering and purchasing costs vary accordingly. In addition, each supplier has a shipment capacity constraint and minimum ordering quantity policy. A detailed literature has been reviewed about the thesis. Based on the definition of problem, a mathematical model is generated with an integer linear programming model. This model examines how many orders should be placed from which product, when, to which supplier. After the model was created, it was run with experimental data, analyzes and results were compared. Next, by integrating company data into this model, real life problem was solved. After solving the real-life problem, data obtained from the company for the same period was compared. As a result of the comparison, the proposed mathematical model offers 6.02 percent less total inventory costs annually. Therefore, it has been observed that the proposed mathematical model is appropriate and can be integrated to the firm's inventory decision making process.
