ERP application used in an automotive supplier industry company

Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) systems are advanced softwares which are used to manage the whole processes of business units, from raw materials procurement to the end customer, in an integrated manner. By forming a widespread integration through including all functional branches of a business structure, these software provide competitive advantage to businesses. Main goal of ERP systems is to support the value chain of a firm through business processes integration and external connections consolidation. ERP system usage is integrating the business unites work flow in an individual platform and comes forward as a sole information source for all information requirements of the business. Like other software, ERP software, which are managing all business units interactively, are oriented to profit based success. This study investigates ERP implementation of Terbay, Inc., which is a firm operating in automotive supplier industry. Firm's activities towards replacing the ERP system which was used for some time and all stages of new ERP system implementation from selecting to execution are included. As the result of the study reflecting that the ERP system implementations, which require high efforts and expenses, can be replaced as a consequence of deficiencies, dissatisfaction, or failures; it is determined that an implementation of the new system in a wider context is providing improvements in both management and operations of the firm. It is also considered that the experience gained from the former system implementation facilitated the new system implementation, reduced the resistance to change, and shortened the implementation time.
