Abstract (EN)

Self-presentations that individuals construct face to face have changed their scope within the framework of technological developments that gain momentum today and become even more important with the emergence of social networks. Thanks to the opportunities provided by social networks, people have the opportunity to show or present themselves to others while producing their own content. It is assumed that users who reconstruct themselves on the scope of these produced contents tend to present almost perfect selves towards other users. Therefore, self-building becomes important in social media platforms. This study aims to research Instagram users in Turkey, in the opinion on the concept of self build on Instagram, and aims to analyze their behavior as well as to determine the views of the population aged 18 and over about Instagram usage and self. In this context, self-construction on Instagram is discussed in the context of Goffman's self-presentation theory and other important concepts related to self-presentation. The research is a descriptive survey study, and a questionnaire consisting of 22 questions was conducted on individuals to collect the required data. According to the results obtained at the end of the research; Instagram provides the user with a new self opportunity that they idealize to replace their daily self and can be defined that Instagram has a moderate role in self-building.
