The name of domination: Orientalism and orientalization

This study, which is based on the works of Edward Said will examine how the past and common experiences have turned into domination of the West over the East and will try to explain, at the same time, the relationship between the local nations and the rulership which affected by the dominant discourse. The starting point of the study becomes apparent with the book of Edward Said's "Orientalism". At the same time, the belief of the Western and Eastern world in the intellectual will be one of the main debates of the study. Edward Said describes Orientalism as vanguard of colonialism in his book published in 1978. He also conceives of orientalism as an academic discipline that reveals the roots of power and the intellectual. The new insights and criticisms rising upon this imagination question western dominance through the orientalized world. Bourdieu's thoughts, along with Said's, will also be felt in every part of the study. Today is not brighter than the past. Up to the present, structural problems have been growing like a snowball and causing a crisis. The ossified knowledge of the Western world increases the need for new concepts. The world which needs independent intellectuals more than ever and the East in which the domination is constantly reproduced constitute the main topic of the study and reinforce the idea of global justice and equality for the future.
