Abstract (EN)

The notion of nationalism is an expression that finds its counterpart in the ancient and modern world. This concept causes debates on social and political grounds. It is possible to say that nationalism is evaluated within a positive meaning as well as pejorative meanings. After the French Revolution, in a way, we see that the monarch order was destroyed with the concept of nation and evolved into a national state form. The common view accepts that nationalism emerged after the French Revolution of 1789. The concept of nationalism is included in the political literature as a systematic way of thinking that emerged as a result of the global movements in the 19th century. Galip Erdem is a prominent name within Turkish Nationalism. It is expressed among the milestones of the Ülkücü / Nationalist community in a way. Turkish nationalism responds to changing and transforming definitions through elements such as nation, history, culture, within the idea system of Turkish nationalism. Erdem, with his identity as a scholar and a man of action, has thought about many social and political issues and brought different perspectives to these issues. The most important of the social issues he has analyzed is nationalism. Erdem thinks that those who argue for nationalism basically do not have a discourse problem, but the main problem is "affection". Because according to him, the main source of nationalism starts with loving the nation you belong to.
