Abstract (EN)
Purpose: This study has been made for the purpose of evaluating the risk of falls by patients in university hospital and preventative exercises of falls in hospital.Method: For the results of this cross-sectional and descriptive evaluation, a study of 1000 patients treated in all clinics except for policlinics, emergency, operating room, pediatric and intensive care units was taken. Input data was gathered as ?Sociodemographic Feature and Inquiry Form About Fall?, ?Falling Risk Evaluation Form? and ?Rating Form of Preventation Falls Practice?.Findings and Conclusion: 41.9 % of patients have low , 22.7 % moderate and 35.4% high fall risk. 9.7% of study group has had tendency for falling , 3.6% of patients have fallen. Most falls are among male patients (61.1%) in physical therapy and rehabilitation (27.7%) and Internal Medicine (13.8%). Sample of patients with 13.7% of the cases the last three months, the 1-2 times falling story is included, 40.5% of seats dependent and need support for toilets needs, 54.5% need support for walking.Whilst establishing risk factors, it came out that 93% of patients have at least one chronic illness. 95.1% of patients take medicine regularly. The precautions in place include furniture/supplies/bed wheels being locked, receiving medical counselling, having support personel when carrying the patient, having the right lighting and the notifying of blood pressure changes to physician.As a result, it is obligatory for services done in hospital and patient security while evaluating patient fall risk. So, before a patient has a fall, the risk factors are determined and precautions can be taken.Key words: patient, fall, fall risk assessment, fall risk factors.
