Approximately 1200 plant specimen were collected from the area. At the end of the study, 621 taxa {at specific and infraspecific ranks) belonging to 71 families and 309 genera were identified. One hundered and seven taxa were defined as new records for the C6 and C7 squares. The number of endemic taxa to Turkey is 16 (2.57 %). Physalis txocarpa Brot. ex Hornem. (Solanaceae) is a new record for the flora of Turkey. From the total 621 taxa, only one taxon belong to divisio Pteridophyta, 620 taxa to divisio Spermatophyta. Subdivisio Gymnospermae have 1 taxon and subdivisio Angiospermae have 619 taxa. 71 taxa belong to classis Monocotyledones and 548 classis Dicotyledones. The largest families according to the taxon number in the research area are follows: Fabaceae (113), Asteraceae (78), Poaceae (48), Brassicaceae (39), Lamiaceae (33), Apiaceae (30), Caryophyllaceae (23), ScrophulaHacem (18), Papaveraçeae (14), Rmunculaceae (13), Bomginaceae {13), Solanaceae (\ 1), Rosaceae (14), Eupliorbiaceae (12) md Liliaceae (10). The phytogeographic elements are represented in the study area as follows; Irano- Turanian 138 (22.2%), Mediterranean 114 (18.2 %), Euro-Siberian 20 (3.0 %), Cosmopolitan 12 (1.93 %) and Saharo-Indian 1 (0.16 %). The phytogeographic region of taxa 336 (54.1 %) are unknown, Accor4ing to IUCN Red Data Book Categories, 33 plant taxa are under threat, and of these taxa 16 are endemic and 17 are nonendemic plants. In this research, 41 folk medicinal plant from area have been reported. Key Words: Flora, GAP Region, The Birecik Dam, threatened plants, folk medicine II
