Determination of philosophical tendencies of individuals in leisure and investigation of philosophical tendencies levels in terms of demographic variables

The main purpose of this study was to determine the philosophical orientations (Philosophical preferences) of individuals in their leisure time evaluation and to examine their philosophical orientations (Philosophical preferences) in terms of demographic variables.The study groups of the investigation 171 students at Eskişehir Technical University for the pilot study, 317 people who using Google Questionnaires for exploratory factor analysis and 647 people for confirmatory factor analysis after the pilot study. Two studies were carried out of the main purpose of the investigation. In the first step (study I), it was aimed to develop the els philosophical preferences in Leisure Assessment Scale be and to validate the measurement model. In Study II, which followed the process of scale development and validation of measurement models, According to the Philosophical preferences Scale factors in leisure evaluation, it was aimed to test the differences between the philosophical preferences levels and demographic characteristics of the participants. With in the StudyI, was developed Scale of Philosophical preferences factors in leisure consisting of 20 items and 4 factors related to psychometric properties. These 4 factors were named as Essentialism, Perennialism, Progressivism, and Reconstructionism. According to the results of investigation, Scale of Philosophical preferences factors in leisure which has 20 itemsand 4 factors, is a valid and reliable measurement tool. According to the results of the difference analyzes conducted with in the scope of Study II, with Scale of Philosophical preferences factors in leisure, Significant differences were determined according to the variables of gender, marital status, occupation and average income. In addition when age and educational level variables were examined, significant differences were not found between scale factors.
