Determination of health literacy and financial literacy level of individuals: An application in Rize province

Health literacy and financial literacy are important types of literacy that affect the lives of individuals. The aim of this study is to examine individuals health literacy and financial literacy levels, to determine the factors affecting health literacy and financial literacy, to determine whether there is a relationship between individuals health literacy and financial literacy levels. The population of the study consists of individuals with income above 18 years of age who live in Rize. The study was conducted with the participation of 384 individuals. The demographic data questionnaire survey, Turkey Health Literacy Scale (Tsoy-32) and the OECD / INFE is collected by Financial Literacy Scale. Confirmatory factor analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, chi-square analysis and correlation analysis were used in analyzing the data. The average health literacy score of individuals with income over the age of 18 residing in the city of Rize was 73.03 out of 100 and the financial literacy score was 68.22. A relationship was found between gender, educational status, age, occupation and income demographic factors and health literacy levels.
