Efficiency analysis for private pension sector: Turkey case (2004-2008)

This paper investigates the performance of the Private Pension Companies in Turkey. Performance evaluation determines to what extent systems actively and efficiently utilise sources allocated.Efficiency scores are calculated by using Data Envelopment Analysis. Data Envelopment Analysis which is a mathematical programming based on efficiency measuring method is used to measure for similar units which use multiply input-output.In this thesis, the efficiency of 11 Private Pension Companies in Turkey are measured for the period 2004?2008 with 3 inputs (shareholders equity, number of agents, number of staff) and only 1 output (technical balance) by employing (input oriented BCC Model) data envelopement analysis. Malmquist Total Factor Productivity Index is used to measure changes in efficiency over time.The findings that achieved as result of the analysis have been evaluated in terms of the company. The empirical results show that efficiency scores of the Private Pension Companies in Turkey decrease during the period of 2004?2008.Key Words 1- Private Pension System, 2- Data Envelopment Analysis, 3- Technical Efficiencies, 4- Scale Efficiencies, 5- Malmquist Index.
