Özet (EN)

Over the years, industrial structures that have continued their activities have lost their efficiency with advancing technology and have become obsolete. To prevent the disappearance of industrial structures, prevent them from becoming idle, and transfer these structures to future generations, the concept of industrial heritage emerged in the 20th century. Studies have been conducted to develop preservation methods for industrial structures and areas that have survived to the present day. Today, one of the most commonly used methods for the preservation of industrial structures and areas is adaptive reuse. Adaptive reuse is a tool to prevent old structures from remaining idle and to preserve their inherent value. The proposed new function in line with the identification of the cultural heritage values of the structure and the area will help preserve the original qualities of the heritage while enabling sustainable use in line with the newly assigned function. Since its establishment, the Republic of Turkey has embraced development and innovation, basing its economic policies on the principle of statism and making investments in the process of industrialization. In this context, BBYSP was prepared to address Turkey's priority needs, and in the 1930s, the government began to establish new factories. In 1933, Sümerbank factory was established. Under the BBYSP, which included Turkey's priority needs, the requirements to be created and the investments to be made were entrusted to Sümerbank. The factories established by Sümerbank played a pioneering role in Turkey's industrial and economic advancement. The Kayseri Sümerbank Textile Factory, with a rich history, has undergone transformations until today. The campus, which was transformed into an educational structure and supported by many contemporary interventions during this process, has reached the present day without losing its original and characteristic features through adaptive reuse efforts. This thesis examines the transformations that the structures within the campus have undergone over time. An analysis of the unique and current values of the campus is conducted. Through these analyses, the role of the applied adaptive reuse project in preserving the cultural heritage values of the campus is discussed and evaluated.
